Jean-Marc believes that all objects in the world convey history, culture but also political discourse. Which means that, as people its participate to create a society. Born in 1980 in France, Jean-Marc Bullet graduated successively from the ESAD, École Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Strasbourg in landscape design and from the ENSCI- les Ateliers, École Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle in Paris. His work is based on the premise that cultural practices are always made in a game of relationship between related actors whether they are human, animal, plant or natural elements (wind, light, water). It is in this playground that he imagines devices, space or object as catalysts of relationship, which he calls objects passeurs. Just graduated in 2012, he founded the agency Bullet&Associés and teaches design at the Campus Caraïbéen des Arts in Martinique. His diploma project from the ENSCI, « Design en territoire rhizomique » was presented at the Design Biennale, « l’empathie ou l’expérience de l’autre » to Saint Étienne in 2013. In Martinique, he creates exhibition scenographies for public institutions such as the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and collaborates with the City of Fort-de-France on urban renewal programs. At the end of 2016, he took the position of artistic director for a design agency in China. Back in France he presents in 2017 the urban composter project at the Parc des Tuileries at the exhibition Jardin, Jardin. In 2018, this project received an Observeur du design label and was nominated for the German Design Award 2019. In 2021 -2022 he realized Presqu’une île, a project that enable people to take part in the mangrove protection by action. After a design residency in United Arab Emirates where he focuses on how creole garden culture and arabe way of gardening in the desert. In 2024, he was invited in New York at Villa Albertine Residency to meet Afro Caribbean and afro American designers for conversations about what black design means.
